Our story

We started in 2015 as a green coffee exporter, shipping Ugandan coffee to buyers around the world. In 2018 we opened our own factory in Kampala, where we process both robusta and arabica from growing regions across the country.

Working so closely with Uganda's coffee, we saw an opportunity to add value at home. In 2024 we launched Orocafe, and today you'll find us in supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and coffee shops across Uganda.

Our mission hasn't changed since day one: from Uganda to the world. We want people everywhere to discover the taste of Uganda, and the country behind it.

Arabica and robusta, the Ugandan way

Uganda is one of the few origins that grows both at scale, and robusta is native to the country's forests.

Robusta is bold and full-bodied, with deep chocolate and nutty notes, low acidity and a rich crema. It thrives at lower altitudes and is a favourite for espresso blends.

Arabica grows at higher altitudes and is sweeter and more aromatic, with brighter acidity and more fruit and floral complexity.

We work with both, so we can build coffees for every taste, whether that's a strong espresso or a smooth filter cup.

Carefully sourced, roasted in Kampala

We source carefully from farms and co-operatives across Uganda, selecting only high quality robusta and arabica. Every lot is chosen for its character and consistency, which gives us a wide range of flavours to work with, from bold, chocolatey robusta to sweet, fruit-forward arabica.

The coffee is then roasted and packed at our roastery in Kampala, so it reaches you fresh and the value stays in the country where it's grown. Our Quality team cups throughout the process to make sure every batch meets our standard, and we only send out coffee we're proud of.
